Whether or not this shoe (Tweeker!) is real or not doesn’t matter, what I love about it is the tailored offering. It mixes two themes up and creates something special.

Tailored offerings keep things interesting for the business owner and shows your customers and prospects that you’re always on your toes.

I think we sometimes forget that as Marketers we are first and foremost PROBLEM SOLVERS. Our task is to get inside the heads of our targets, understand what they’re thinking, what problems they have and then hit them between the eye with a tailored solution.

When you get it right, man does it feel good.

I’m working on right this minute…I’m going to shake up the way marketing workshops are held…in terms of content, how it’s presented, the location and so much more.

How can you shake up your product offering with the aim of giving people exactly what it is they want… even if they didn’t know it?

It excites me when I see a small business, a florist in this case, take a bloody big risk. I was driving down the highway tonight when I past this huge flower lit up like it was new years eve. Not a real flower…But one made from heavy construction steel and wrapped in what must have been 300 lights. It acted as a great landmark…as well as very clearly promoting the fact that a florist was close at hand.

Why is this so amazing, I hear you ask? Two reasons…small businesses, such as this florist, are never flush with cash to spend on marketing. So to do something this brave when they know that every cent must provide a return I believe is courageous.

My second reason is more cynical. I’ve worked with many large corporations during my 20 years in marketing communications and the thought of doing something so ‘out there’ as a big flower idea was simply just too hard for many of them to get their head around. You see, there’s safety in avoiding the big ideas…And comfort in running the same old ads and the same old direct mail campaign.

As consumers, we love to be rewarded…This big flower rewarded me tonight. If I’d needed flowers, I would have stopped in a heart beat.

<< If you’re a small business with a big appetitie for success then I suggest buying this book >>

Hi to one and all…Welcome to my blog. A place to seek marketing ideas and inspirations that are aimed at helping your business boom.

What I promise is stimulating discussion and tips on how to make the most of your marketing spend, whether it be one dollar or thousands.

You know, it constantly bugs me when I see small to medium sized businesses (even corporations for that matter) spend money hand over fist on advertising, direct mail, telemarketing and so on with a message that leaves you feeling anything but inspired.

The bottom line is that we as consumers don’t care…all we’re interested in is what’s in it for me. As a business, if you understand this then you’re well on the way to effective marketing and lots more (of the right) customers. Now you’ve got to love that!

BTW, to make this Blog of even greater value to you (my precious reader) I intend listing a book title relevant to whatever it is I’m blogging about at the time. Given this is just a general intro, I thought I’d start with a Marketing text that proved quite beneficial to me upon its release. I continue to use many of Seth Godin’s principals to this day. I highly recommend buying Permission Marketing.
